![]() Many professional artists’ websites frequently contain an 'artist statement' where he/she feels obligated to indulge prospective clients in self-righteous psychobabble. The schlock artists explain how 'deep', 'tuned-in', and 'cooler-than-thou' they are. Despite artwork, in numerous instances unfit for doormat usage, the hokey artists feebly attempt to persuade people as to how peculiarly unique they are versus the unwashed masses. These common shuck and jive statements are messy harangues attempting to attach importance and value to otherwise unimportant trash. The following, if you please, is a snapped out snippet from a painter's website I stumbled across online recently. The artist had years, seemingly countless, of fine art schooling and exhibit experience. He simply splashed acrylic paint on canvas for a living, yet had the following to say about himself: "My latest body of work represents purposeful, complicated brashness exemplifying satirical social and quasi-religious ruminations punctuated by foreshadowed instigations that oxymoronically deconstruct preconceived innuendoes." Hmmm…interesting. Having endured that sample of verbal diarrhea, I shall graciously spare you, valued visitor, to similar derangement, OK? I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to the tropical paradise of Tampa Bay in 1987. For 17 years, I was a renowned tattoo artist who enjoyed having over 1000 photographs of my expertly rendered skin art published in dozens of internationally distributed magazines. In 2002, I began painting in both acrylic and oil while maintaining a penchant for pen and ink cartooning. After my first few one-man art shows proved successful, I decided to terminate my dermo-graphic endeavors, and pursue my new found passion full time. I am entirely self-taught, but often stupidly joke that I earned a doctorate from the school of hard knocks. I have dedicated my very existence to fine tuning my craft, often spending twelve hour days hunched over a canvas. I do not pre-define myself as wildlife, portrait, abstract, or any type of artist. I have the ability, as evidenced by the multitudinous examples provided on my site, to paint many subjects in many styles. You be the judge. Most of my work is custom commissions. If you are interested in having a one-of-a-kind original created specifically for you and your family to cherish for decodes to follow, I can be easily reached through the contact info below. Enjoy my website, please. Allow the artwork to speak for itself.
